Raymond L. Begor

VERMONTVILLE — Raymond L. Begor, 74, of 238 Swinyer Road, Vermontville, died Sunday, Feb. 15, 2009 at his home with family by his side.

Born in Vermontville on Aug. 24, 1934, he was the son of Leander and Minnie (Patnode) Begor. He married Elaine Tummons on Oct. 24, 1959 in Bloomingdale.

Mr. Begor was a lifelong resident of Vermontville and had been employed as a caretaker for Cedar Bridge Camp in St. Regis Falls for 23 years and later for Wildwood Motel in Lake Placid for 10 years until his retirement in 1999. Prior to that, he had been employed by Branch and Callaghan in Saranac Lake for several years. Mr. Begor was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing. He also had been a volunteer coach for the Little League Baseball program for many years.

He is survived by his wife Elaine of Vermontville; three sons: Bill Begor and his wife Elisa of Lake Placid, Wayne Begor and his wife Missy of Vermontville and John Begor and his wife Lisa of Plattsburgh; two daughters: Darlene Wright and her hus- band Craig of Saranac Lake and Mary Ellen Begor and her companion John Peckham of Vermontville; two sisters: Cynthia Oliver and her husband Don of Gabriels and Doris Stickney of Franklin Falls; one brother Marvin Begor and his wife Marsha of Vermontville; 10 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his parents, two brothers and two sisters.

Funeral arrangements are in care of the Fortune-Keough Funeral Home in Saranac Lake. Following the wishes of Raymond there will be no calling hours. A graveside service will take place at the convenience of the family in the spring in Union Cemetery in Vermontville.
